From start to finish they were very professional, had great communication, and overall exceeded our expectations. We didn’t feel pressure at any stage of the process and couldn’t be more pleased with the end result.
To start, not only was their contract competitive, but they offered much more flexibility in terms of design, layout, and build options than what we were offered at other companies. Every member of their team was friendly, provided great communication, and were knowledgeable. This isn’t their first build and their experience and expertise speak for itself and is evident throughout the whole process.
After permitting was completed, from breaking ground to keys in hand, was surprisingly quick. I am pretty impressed how fast they worked, and the coordination of every step was almost seamless. Their subcontractors were also professional, respected our property, and very skilled.
Jordon our Project Manager was fantastic. Responsive, friendly, honest, and genuine. He’s also very knowledgeable, experienced, and communicated efficiently at every stage. Really good guy.
The only real problems that occurred throughout the build were more related to utility issues that were out of their control. I truly felt they did everything to ease our concerns and they addressed the issue professionally and honestly.
I am so happy that we chose to go with Imkat. I have zero regrets and would recommend them to anyone looking to build an ADU. Their work is top-notch both in quality and professionalism, customer service was outstanding, and they handled every step with grace. Will be doing business again in the future, no doubt about it.

An ADU is a self-contained living unit that is either attached or detached from a primary residential dwelling. It is also commonly known as a granny flat, in-law suite, backyard cottage, or secondary dwelling unit.
Most counties in the surrounding Sacramento area allow you to build up to 1200 square feet per lot. As long as it fits on your property.Â
You can build up to two units per property or as long as both units do not exceed 1200 square feet. Such as two 600 SQFT units.

Depending on the size it typically takes 3-5 months for your permits plans and Design and 3-4 months for construction.Â
Yes, ADUs can be rented out for additional income. However, local regulations may place restrictions on renting out ADUs, such as requiring a permit or limiting the number of occupants.
